The World Maritime Day is celebrated in the last week of September since 1978, a date instituted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The World Maritime Day is an event used to draw attention to the global importance of maritime industries, to world trade, as well as to promote safety in maritime transport and to help protect the marine environment. The official sea turtle nesting season in Angola coast, started on September 1st and the Kitabanga Project already has several sea turtle and nests records in the different bases it monitors.
